Christie's Announcement Marks Entry Into Crowded Republican Field

Christie's announcement comes as the Republican field is increasingly crowded. He is the 16th Republican to announce his candidacy, joining the likes of Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, and Marco Rubio.
Christie is a former federal prosecutor and served as governor of New Jersey from 2010 to 2018. He is a moderate Republican who has been critical of both Trump and the more conservative candidates in the field.
