Chris Christie Ends 2024 Presidential Bid

Disappointing Run in 2016, Failed to Gain Traction

Former Governor of New Jersey Exits Race

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, citing a lack of traction in his campaign.

Christie, who served as the 55th governor of New Jersey from 2010 to 2018, first announced his presidential aspirations in 2015. However, his campaign in 2016 was unsuccessful, and he ultimately endorsed Donald Trump.

In his announcement on Wednesday, Christie acknowledged that he had failed to gain any significant traction in the 2024 race. "After much thought, I have decided to end my campaign for president," Christie said in a statement. "It was not an easy decision, but it is the right one."

Christie's withdrawal further narrows the field of Republican presidential candidates, which currently includes former President Donald Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
