Corey Perry Signs With Edmonton Oilers After Chicago Blackhawks Termination

Former Hart Trophy Winner Says Focus Not on Hockey Right Now

Veteran Forward Practiced With Oilers on Monday

Corey Perry has signed a one-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers after his departure from the Chicago Blackhawks over inappropriate conduct.

The 38-year-old forward is a former Hart Trophy winner and has played in the NHL for 17 seasons. He has 385 goals and 424 assists in 1,087 career games.

Perry was placed on waivers by the Blackhawks on Tuesday after engaging in "conduct detrimental to the team." He was subsequently terminated by the team.

In a statement released after his termination, Perry said that his focus is not on hockey right now.

"I am not going to comment on the specifics of my termination from the Blackhawks," Perry said. "I am focused on my family and my health right now."

Perry practiced with the Oilers on Monday and is expected to make his debut for the team on Tuesday against the Vancouver Canucks.
