Real Madrid appoints new manager
Carlo Ancelotti returns to the club after a successful spell in charge from 2013 to 2015
The Italian has signed a three-year contract and will be officially unveiled on Thursday
Real Madrid have appointed Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager on a three-year contract.
The Italian returns to the club after a successful spell in charge from 2013 to 2015, during which time he won the Champions League, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Super Cup.
Ancelotti left Real Madrid in 2015 to join Bayern Munich, where he won the Bundesliga title and the German Cup.
He was sacked by Bayern in September 2017 and has been out of work since then.
Ancelotti is a highly experienced manager who has also managed Juventus, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
He is known for his attacking style of play and his ability to get the best out of his players.
Real Madrid are hoping that Ancelotti can help them to regain their status as one of the best teams in Europe.
The club has struggled in recent seasons, finishing third in La Liga last season and failing to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Ancelotti will be officially unveiled as Real Madrid manager on Thursday.
He will be tasked with rebuilding the team and challenging for major trophies.
