Controversies and doubts may have hung over the Bayern Munich squad in recent months, but they were put to bed in emphatic fashion on Wednesday night as the Bavarians thrashed Viktoria Köln 4-0 in the DFB-Pokal. Former Leipzig trainer Julian Nagelsmann, who took the reins at Bayern this summer, praised his team's performance after the match.
"I'm very happy with the way the team played tonight," Nagelsmann said. "We were very dominant from the start and created a lot of chances. We could have scored even more goals, but I'm happy with the four we got."
Nagelsmann's men took the lead early on through Leroy Sané and never looked back. Thomas Müller, Jamal Musiala, and Robert Lewandowski added further goals after the break to seal a comfortable victory.
