Boston Celtics Cancels Ime Udoka's Season
The Boston Celtics have suspended head coach Ime Udoka for the 2022-2023 NBA season after an investigation found he had an improper relationship with a member of the team's staff.
The Celtics announced the suspension in a statement on Thursday, saying that the decision was made after a "thorough investigation" conducted by an independent law firm.
"I want to apologize to our players, fans, the Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down," Udoka said in a statement. "I am sorry for the pain this has caused everyone."
The Celtics named assistant coach Joe Mazzulla as the interim head coach.
Udoka led the Celtics to the NBA Finals last season, where they lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games.
